Take a look: 2022 Farm Progress Show

The 2022 Farm Progress Show made the most of gorgeous weather in Boone, Iowa, last week during its three-day run from Aug. 30 to Sept. 1.

“The weather was terrific, and the crowds were huge,” says Matt Jungmann, national events director for Farm Progress, adding that visitor parking lots were completely full — something that had never happened at the Boone site before. “Other than the lack of field demos, it will go down as one of the best shows we’ve ever had.”

Jungmann says field demos had to be canceled due to moisture levels. The corn simply couldn’t mature fast enough for harvest at the show, given delayed spring planting and wet weather.

This show was the first at the Boone site since 2018, besides the virtual show that was held on-site in 2020 and delivered via video libraries. Jungmann was apprehensive going into the 2022 show, simply because the “operational machine” hadn’t run since 2018.

“I really expected to have some kind of traffic or infrastructure issues — electricity, restrooms, etc. — but other than very small things, the machine got up and running fast and ran really well,” he says.

Next year, the show rotates back to Illinois, heading to Decatur Aug. 29-31.

“It’s always great to go back to Decatur, and we’re already talking to exhibitors about their big plans for next year,” Jungmann says.
