Planting equipment, systems offer seamless seeding

What’s New From the Shows: Planters and accessories for planters streamline planting.

The offering of new products for planting and seeding includes new planters and seeders, but it also includes new short-line products that can make existing planters and seeders more efficient. There is a wide variety of products related to planters and seeders that deserve a look if you’re still trying to improve your seeding capability.

Massey Ferguson brings a new planter to the market, and several companies introduce new seeders. Check out the Borgault FMS seeder that can also be used to plant corn. The Horsch Pronto seeder does tillage and places seed for you for maximum emergence. Great Plains also offers a seeder that complements its Great Plains turbo tool.

Several companies continue to introduce everything from row cleaners to closing wheels, and now closing wheel systems, to upgrade existing planters and obtain better seed-to-soil contact without creating soil compaction.

Precision Planting’s biggest introduction this year is its Reveal residue wheel assembly that mounts independent of the planter unit. Schaffert has tweaked its four-link closing wheel system to close the seed slot over the planting trench with new closing wheel options, including a smaller metal wheel that performs well in closing the trench.

Even if you think your planter did its job this spring, check out these new offerings to see if one of these new technologies might help you obtain an even better stand in 2022.
